Claude Code Advanced Features Explained
Once you are comfortable with Claude Code, you can go further with these advanced capabilities: IDE integration, model switching, context compression, session resume, and deeper reasoning.
🧩 IDE Integration
Supports VS Code and JetBrains. In VS Code, simply run Claude Code in the built-in terminal to integrate; for JetBrains, install the Claude Code plugin from the plugin marketplace.
🧠 Model Switching
You can use different models for everyday development and complex tasks — switch mid-session with /model. The models currently available and their positioning are defined by the Model Plaza.
🗜️ Context Management
When the context gets too long, use /compact to compress it, summarizing the key points of the current session and reducing subsequent consumption.
🔁 Session Resume
claude --continue resumes the most recent session, and claude --resume opens the session picker.
🖼️ Image Handling
You can analyze error screenshots, design mockups, flowcharts, and other visual content directly, which helps reproduce problems and implement pages.
🤔 Deeper Thinking
For complex architecture, edge cases, security design, and similar problems you can explicitly ask for "deeper thinking", but it will consume more quota.
claude --continue
claude --resume/compact keep only the context needed for the current bug investigationI need to implement an authentication system for the API using OAuth2. Think deeply about the best implementation approach.
Think about the potential security vulnerabilities in this approach.
Think even more deeply about the edge cases that need to be handled.Deeper Thinking Mode
Use it only for complex problems, such as OAuth2 authentication design, concurrency model refactoring, or security vulnerability investigation — there is no need to go this deep on simple problems.
