Zed Editor Configuration Guide: Connecting to the NextHub API
Zed supports two ways to connect: ACP mode (directly reuses your Claude Code configuration) and Zed Agent mode (used in the editor's built-in AI panel).
Method 1: ACP Mode (recommended)
ACP mode calls the Claude Code CLI directly. Just complete your Claude Code configuration by following CC-Switch / Manual Configuration, and Zed can use it right away with no additional setup.
TIP
Zed ACP has a built-in Claude Code Agent. Once your Claude Code configuration is complete, you can select it directly in Zed's Agent panel — zero setup required.
Method 2: Zed Agent Mode (configure a provider manually)
1. Open the Agent Panel and click the current model name
Find the Agent Panel in the bottom-right corner of Zed and click the currently displayed model name to enter the model switching screen.
2. Click Configure → Add Provider
In the popup, click "Configure", then click "Add Provider", and choose Compatible APIs (OpenAI) as the type.
3. Fill in the provider information
Fill it in using the format below:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| API Key | your NextHub ApiKey |
| Base URL | https://api.nexthub.cc/v1 |
| Model ID | An ID from the model list, such as claude-opus-5-5 |
Remember to include /v1 in the Base URL
Zed uses the address you enter verbatim as the request prefix. When you enter https://api.nexthub.cc/v1, both the chat/completions and Responses request modes work correctly; a chat/completions request without /v1 will land on the wrong path and fail.
4. Save and select a Claude model in the Agent panel
After saving the configuration, return to the Agent Panel and select the Claude model you just added from the model dropdown list, and you are good to go.
